It was probably around midday, though this far into the city only a gray haze filtered down. Looking up, one could see the faint sparkle of the sun through the spires of Sun City, but most of the light in Mid City was artificial. Its inhabatents were undeterred, and continued on with life as usual.
One such person grunted as her back popped while stretching mid-stride. Today was a sore day. Kygan guessed she must have slept weirdly last night, which happened often on the cheap matress in her slightly run down apartment. But what else was she to do? Could be worse, she could be stuck at home, or held in Precinct some more. Nah, she liked this independent life much better.
"Where to today, Kyndl?" the ameture racer asked the large crimson beast walking along side her. A silver glare and an indifferent grunt was his answer. "Alright, then," the young woman said, "guess the feeling's mutual." Not caring where they were headed, the two continued in the direction they were going, just looking to see what there was to be seen. Maybe something interesting would pop up, but it was just as likely that nothing would happen. All the luck of the draw.

Sam and Reina were walking around, enjoying the little sun that they had, coming way up from Sun City. On most days, they would be looking for a place to stay for the night, since they had no permanent place to stay. They couldn't stand being in a house all the time, so they decided to live on the streets for the thrill of freedom.
They continued to walk down the busy streets of Down Town when Sam suddenly jerked on the handles, causing Reina to swerve out of the way of another dragon and rider. "Woah, sorry about that." Sam apologized to them.

An angry snarl caused Kygan to stop, glaring up at Kyndl. "What's that fo - oh." She bent over sideways to look around the Magma-class, seeing the Black dragon on the other side of him. Grabbing one of Kyndl's arms for balance, she ducked beneath him, arching an eyebrow up at the Dragon and Rider. "Yeah, wanna watch where you're going next time?" Kygan asked, irritation mingling in her voice. "And you're in Kyndl's bubble. You should back away. Quickly." Accompanying her words was a steely glare from the Red Dragon in question. The Dragon and Rider pair might not always get along well, but often they were on the same page. Kygan crossed her arms, looking up at Sam with a sarcastic look on her face, almost as if expecting an apology.

Sam glared at her, but had Reina back up anyway. "What's your problem? I said I was sorry, it was a mistake." She countered at the rider. "So I don't need to apologize again, and I don't need to take that kind of attitude towards my dragon and I." Sam said straight up, this time to both dragon and rider.

Kygan's glare only intensified, not moving. "My problem is idiot riders like you that don't know one end of a Dragon from another." Kyndl harrumphed his agreement. "And I don't need your Dragon's thick skull scraping my scales." There was a red glow as Kyndl powered up and magged Kygan, settling her in the saddle. "So I suggest you make yourself scarce." Kyndl snarled, bearing his teeth at the smaller Psi-Class Dragon. They wouldn't take it either. And both were willing to bet they were older, wiser, and by far more stubborn.

Sam started to get out her mag-stick, but Reina growled at something else that was following them. She got her mag-stick out anyway, and started looking around for the creature that was bothering Reina. Just as Sam was putting her blocking tool away, and dark blue-colored dragon leaped at them, tackling Reina to the ground.

Seeing Sam reach for her mag-stick, Kygan did the same, not going to be caught off guard. She wouldn't initiate the attack, but she certainly would defend herself. Kyndl tensed beneath her, and she figured it was from Reina getting ready to attack, so she pulled out her blocking staff, extending it and holding it out, preparing to defend herself. Still tense and ready to fight, Kygan watched with narrowed eyes as Sam began to put away her weapon, expecting a sneak attack.
The sneak attack they got was completely not what she was expecting. Kyndl stepped back, snarling, as the other Dragon was knocked over by another dark blue-colored Dragon. But once the initial shock was over, both Dragon and Rider went into attack mode. With a roar, Kyndl lept forward, trying to slam the Dark Blue off of Reina and Sam, while Kygan swung her blocking staff to smack the other Dragon across the face.

Reina, able to once again move, got up and snarled at the odd looking dragon. She lowered her head, her dark gray eyes challenging the intruder to try that again. Sam had gotten her blocking staff out again, and was about ready to defend her dragon when people on the road started to run and scream into a frenzy, away from the southern tip of the road. Sam looked back behind her, and saw more Dark Blues coming there way.

Screams filled the air as the ground shook beneath everyone's feet. Four more Dark Blues were rampaging down an adjacent street, a cloud of chaos and confusion billowing behind them. One rider hung on for dear life to the saddle magged by his Dragon, but finally the Dark Blue got sick of him and demagged the saddle and the rider, causing them to soar into the air. It wouldn't be long before they reached the square in which Kygan, Sam, and the first Dark Blue battled.
One would be knocked off course before it would get there. Cyrano grunted pridefully as he deployed Brown Entrenching Gear, holding the Ultimatum-Class Dragon to the wall. Something red streaked past him as Wyldfyr streaked past, trying to catch up to the other three. Above, a roar echoed from a rooftop. The Dragon of Legend had arrived.
Kygan took in none of this. Her attention was focused on the Dark Blue she had just attacked. It was reeling from the blow, but was quickly regaining its senses. Mentally she cursed not taking her gear with her, but she thought it was just a walk. You didn't regularly need battle and racing gear while burning time outside. But now was not time to dwell on that. Gripping the center of her blocking staff, she urged Kyndl foward to tackle the Dark Blue, hoping to pin it to the ground.

Of all the dragons in the city, and for that matter all the dragons of Araxis Stables... she had to go and be assigned to the coward.
Serrah rolled vivid green eyes as the fidgety dragon next to her started again, yipping in something perilously close to panic as something brushed the Scavenger-class's flank. This was the fifth recurrance of this incident today... since they'd left the stables... seventeen minutes ago. And it didn't quite escape Serrah that Fyte had started at nothing.
"If you weren't carrying the groceries I'd let you run," The girl grumbled under her breath, clamping her hands around the prancing dragon's muzzle to keep him from bolting. Perhaps the thinly veiled threat reached Flyte; though still twitching with nerves, his frantic jerking had ceased.
Or at least, it had<- until the thunder of approaching feet startled the light green into full flight mode.
Left on her rump in the dust, Serrah glared in the direction her dragon had taken, watching a dust trail slowly rise from the dirty street.
"Blasted dragon..." She hissed, hoisting herself painfully back to her feet. No doubt a rather pretty bruise was spreading across her hip, where she'd been thrown against the wall...
All at once two things happened. One: the sound of raised voices reached her. Belatedly. Two: A dragon sprinted past Serrah, moving quick enough to blur around the edges- but not enough to disguise the navy-blue skin.
Curiosity, adrenaline and sheer dumb misfortune combined to land Serrah in the dragon's slipstream, and hence thrown headlong into the scrum that resulted as the renegade Ultimatum clashed with the Black and the Red.

Reina growled, and tackled one Dark Blue dragon that was in the lead of the others. She and the dragon tumbled to the ground, rolling around in the road. Luckily there was no traffic, so Reina was safe...until the dragon had her pinned. Sam hit another Dark Blue dragon in the face, causing it to go a bit 'coo coo'.

Two Dark Blue Dragons stood reeling, another was pinned to a wall, but two remained upright and in a fury. It wouldn't remain as such for long. Using his speed to his advangage, Wyldfyr quickly gained on one Dark Blue, slamming into it and causing it to lose its footing and slide along the ground. Beau lept from the roof, landing in front of the remaining Dark Blue, swinging his tail and tripping it, causing it to crash to the ground.
Things appeared to be calming down. Kitt had Wyldfyr moved towards Kygan and Kyndl, hoping to help them with the Dark Blue they were struggling to keep down. Just as they got near, however, the Ultimatum-Class on the ground seemed to have gotten a surge of energy and lept up, knocking into Kyndl. As he careened backwards, Kygan noticed Serrah sprawled on the ground and tugged hard on the handles, causing Kyndl to twist in the air. If he landed on her, she would be crushed. Luckily, the action worked, but the massive Red-Boned Dragon instead crashed into Wyldfyr, causing him to go spawling and Kitt to go soaring. She landed with a heavy thud next to two other downed Dragons. Inspired by the first's burst of energy, the other four recovered, their rage intensified. Even Cyrano could not keep the one at bay, and he broke free. Kitt was lost in the dust as the stampede and fight started up again.

Of all the possible arrivals Serrah had anticipated... the Dragon Booster himself wasn't one of the more highly-anticipated. In fact, he hadn't even made the list... yet there he was, along with that massive Star-class, making one mess of a noise and sending the rengegade Dark Blues scattering like frightened Scavengers. The dragonless girl yelped in surprise as one of the downed Ultimatums skidded in her direction- and promptly yelped again as a massive red, easily the largest she'd ever seen, leapt neatly over her head.
Alright, maybe it wasn't too neat, given the tangle that resulted from Kyndl's jump... but he hadn't hit Serrah, and that was saying something.
For the barest instant it seemed the two reds, the black and the gold had emerged victorious; the next instant, chaos crashed down on the group again as the Dark Blues upped the ante once again.
About that time Serrah realized one very important thing: the only thing she was good for in this situation was getting killed. And she really didn't want that.
Thus she scrambled out of the fray, ducking behind a convenient wall just in time to watch Kitt go soaring out of sight.

Sam's eyes grew wide as she saw Kitt get swept into the dust by the pack of Dark Blues that were coming her way. Wait........She did a double take at the dragons that were headed her way, but then she saw a girl out in the middle of it. She ran towards her, and called Reina over with a whistle.
Reina's head perked up, and she ran towards Sam. "Mag her on!" Sam yelled over the sound of the thunder-like stampede heading their way. Reina magged her on into her saddle, with Sam getting out her mag-stick. "Go!" She said urgently to Reina, who nodded and sped off to safety. She glared at a Dark Blue dragon coming her way, swinging her mag-stick at the legs of a Dark Blue, hoping to trip it

Things were not looking good. Cyrano was still reeling from the attack he sustained. Wyldfyr was strugging to get up. Beau had fended off an attack, but all he managed to do was shift the other Dragon's path fifty feet to one side. Dragon Booster panted atop his Gold-Boned Dragon, watching the five Dragons stampede off. Something was wrong. This was happening just too many times. They couldn't chase after every Dark Blue that rebelled, they didn't have the energy. This one... they would let go.
Turning, Dragon Booster counted the fatalities. No one was hurt. Fracshun and Lance were up there, Cyrano and Parm looked no worse for the wear. Some Psi-Class Rider, her Dragon and passenger, and a Red and his Rider were hanging around, still slightly dazed from the attack. And there was Wyldfyr... but... "Where's Kitt?!" Dragon Booster demanded, looking around frantically.
"The Dark Blues must have gotten her..." a grim voice said. Kygan glared in the direction in which the stampede left. Another missing persons report... but not if she could help it. "Dragon Booster! Lend me your Thruster Gear! Kyndl is faster than Beau, if we have any chance of catching up, it'll be with him!" Both gold-influenced beings regarded Kygan and Kyndl, sizing her up. She was just a random passer-by, swept up into this whole mess. But she was willing to help them. Dragon Booster pressed a button, and Beau magged the gear, bringing it over to Kyndl. The Red-Boned Dragon magged the gear, placing it on his zap caps, then dashing off, activating the gear and quickly dissappearing from sight.
